musical explorers

This course is for beginner students on any instrument up to grade 1 standard, and students who do not yet play an instrument but would like to get some musical experience. Musical Explorers is a two-day course running alongside our orchestral instrument course, so everyone will also get a chance to take part in the more advanced ensembles towards the end of the two days.

All of our courses are run by the same dedicated and enthusiastic team of fully professional tutors who are experienced players and teachers, and our Musical Explorers course is jam packed with musical fun!

activities

Over the course we learn the recorder, explore percussion instruments, create our own music, try out some orchestral instruments, sing lots of silly songs and even have a go on handbells. Alongside this, we sometimes go and watch the orchestra rehearse, join in with the choir and, of course, have playtime with everyone else!

course timings

Each day, all students will need to bring with them:

  • Their instrument(s), if applicable and they wish to bring them. Instruments for students to try will be provided.

  • Packed lunch and drink/water bottle

9:00-9:30 – registration

When you arrive on Tuesday, we’ll be taking a quick registration at the entrance as you arrive to make sure everyone settles in and has everything they need. We’ll also provide all students with a name badge.

Both days will begin at 9:30 a.m.

We would ask parents/guardians to come to the entrance as we have a short medical and consent form to fill out to make sure we’re aware of any relevant health conditions or allergies. If you can’t attend the registration, please let us know and we’ll send the form to you in advance.

breaks

We have a morning and afternoon break (approx. 15 mins) in which we will provide refreshments. Children will need to bring their own packed lunch and drink for the midday break.

Final concert – 3:00 PM

The second day will end with a short informal concert, which we would love parents to attend. This will showcase some of the music and activities we have been working on during the course, although we cannot perform everything.

The concert will finish by 4:00 p.m. at the latest.

days ends – 4:00 PM
